Along the road, you will make different stops, the first being at the Telouet Kasbah, which is the former residence of the Glaoui family – one of the most influential in the entire region. After a break time for lunch, you will head to what is probably the most well-known kasbahs in Morocco – Ait Benhaddou. The kasbah is a UNESCO-protected monument and has seemed in countless movies.

You will make a final short stop at the Kasbah of Taourirt before arrival at your accommodation in Ouarzazate, or ‘Gate desert place of no noise’. Once a major outpost along the caravan routes, it takes 52 days by camel from here to Timbuktu, or so the nearby sign indicates! You continue on to Tagunite, which lies on the outer edges of a line of undulating sand dunes that provide a taste of the sheer grandeur of the Sahara desert beyond.

Amid this seemingly inhospitable landscape, the desert heat causes the air to shiver and shiver, creating a mirage that shimmers in the soaring temperatures, the perfect place to explore while being honored by the nomadic Tuareg nomads.

=> Going to the camel, you form your own caravan from the oasis of the Erg Gaga dunes “camel rides may take place in the late afternoon on summer departures)”. The Arabian camel is ideally suited to these conditions and has always been highly prized by the desert nomads.

Living for up to 40 years, they are prized not only for their stamina as burden-bearing animals but also for their fur, skin, and dung, all of which can be used for tents, hides, and fuel for fires. Stopping in to enjoy the place’s quiet solitude and learn something from desert life, you arrive at the Berber Night Camp to enjoy bread making in the late afternoon, before settling under the desert sky in the evening.

Testimonials

Shared desert tour Marrakech 3 days to Merzouga or Zagora

I got to hang out with Mosstagha for a night at the desert camp in Merzouga. He took us out to a prime dune for stargazing and spoiled us with jokes, riddles and stories from the desert. He is very funny (we had us belly laughing) and is also very kind, offering to get a blanket and build a fire when it got cold. He is very keen to learn from his guests, and in turn to teach them about the desert and it’s people. Highly recommend! Morocco Safe Travel.

Shared desert tour Marrakech 3, 4 days to Merzouga or Zagora

The 4 days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour was a great experience and the highlight of our 4 week travel through Morocco, Spain. I really didn't know what to expect so every stop along the way was a revelation and we saw way more sights than I expected. We loved riding camels and being in the desert camp. It's been a lot of driving and next time I'd probably do a 5 day tour - it was that good. Our driver was great, the riad and desert camp were comfortable, the food was great and all the staff were very kind and polite. Highly recommended Morocco Safe Travel.

Shared desert tour Marrakech 3 days to Merzouga or Zagora

We travelled as family (with a 5 years old kid). It was a great trip to Morocco Safe Travel. I can totally recommend this. They picked up at the right time. The Mercedes Van was comfortable with AC and Wifi. They stopped at regular intervals and arranged guided tours. Desert safari and stay in Sahara (Merzouga) was really great. The tent didn't have, of course, no heater but had enough blankets. Camel ride was a good one time experience. The breakfast and dinner they provided was also very delicious, more than enough and enjoyable. The guide Mustafa and driver were very friendly and helpful. The return journey was little hectic as its a long journey from Merzouga to Marrakech. But they stopped at regular intervals. Driving was also good. Overall highly recommended if you want to go to visit Desert from Marrakech.

Shared desert tour Marrakech 3 days to Merzouga or Zagora

It was amazing, beautiful views, unique moments. If you want real desert experience(Big sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, beautiful stars), you should go. Also thanks for our guide Mosstagha, he was very helpful and smiling every time. It takes 10 hours to go Sahara with stops and 8 hours go back by bus. Also our driver Hassan drives very well, safe and comfy. The only bad thing about tour is lunches. Every meal costs approx. 10-12 euros, and it was not delicious and unique for me, to be honest. But I wasn’t there for food so I strongly recommend this tour. Thanks for everything Morocco safe Travel.
