Itinerary of 10 days tour Casablanca via desert tour Morocco to Marrakech
Day 1: Casablanca → Rabat → Meknes
=> Your driver will pick you up from the airport to explore the monuments of Casablanca such as the Hassan II Mosque.
The Hassan II Mosque is the largest on the African continent and this magnificent structure can hold up to 105,000 worshippers. The mosque was built for the king’s 60th birthday, an engineering feat as well as a controversial use of public money. We will take a tour inside the mosque, which is deliberately floating above the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in honor of the Holy Qur’an which states that God’s throne was above water.
=> After that, you will continue to reach Rabat, “the capital of Morocco”. Start by car through the beautifully tiled entrance to the Royal Palace, followed by a stop at Bab Rawah, or the city’s “wind gate,” so named because it has been exposed to the Atlantic winds since its construction in 1197. Visit the Hassan Tower, part of an unfinished mosque begun by Khalifa in the century twelveth. In the incredibly well-preserved Kasbah of the Udayas, explore the castle and take a stroll through the French colonial Andalusian gardens. End the day at Chellah, the cemetery, and ruins of an ancient Roman outpost. The balance of the day is at leisure. In the late afternoon, travel to Meknes (approximately 2 hours), the former capital of Morocco, where you’ll spend the night in the first day of 10 days tour Casablanca via desert
Day 2: Meknes → Volubilis → Chefchaouen
=> Today, enjoy a morning tour of Meknes and discover the charming streets of the old city. From the northern gate of Bab Berdin, walk to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail (closed for renovation) – which transformed Meknes from a provincial town into an imperial city in the 17th century – then explore the elaborately decorated public buildings hidden in these winding streets, including Moulay’s granary Ismail and the old market. Next, head to the nearby archaeological site of Volubilis, where its remains make for an undeniably impressive sight when they appear on the edge of a long, high plateau. Tour ancient hillside ruins with a local guide, and discover the city’s impressive mosaics along Decumanus Maximus, many of which are still intact.
=> Next, take a 3-hour drive to Chefchaouen, or the “blue city”, which is arguably one of the most beautiful places in Morocco. Chefchaouen is located on a wide valley between two peaks in the stunning Rif Mountains. Her city is lovingly nurtured with stunning blue-and-white homes, red-tiled roofs, and artistic doorways. Much of Chefchaouen has been recreated by Andalusian refugees fleeing the Reconquista, so you might feel like you’re in the hills of Spain while exploring its streets.
